In South Burlington, Andrew Plumley racked up 259 rushing yards and ran for four touchdowns to lead the Burlington Seahorses to a 37-0 victory over the Rice Green Knights in interdivisional action Saturday.

Plumley had touchdown runs of 6, 9 and 2 yards in leading the Seahorses to a 24-0 halftime lead. Then the Burlington running back tacked on a 35-yard scoring scamper in the second half.

Meanwhile Burlington QB Josh Cary fired a pair of TD passes, hitting Jason Murray with a 66-yard scoring strike in the first half and Adam Chicoine with a 41-yard bomb in the second half.

Burlington improved to 2-1, 3-2, while Rice dropped to 2-1, 2-3.

South Burlington 28, St. Johnsbury 20

In South Burlington, the Rebels used a reserve running back and a goal-line stand in the final minute of play to nip the Hilltoppers 28-20 and remain unbeaten in a Division II classic.

The Rebels stopped the Hilltoppers four times at the goal line in the final minute of play to seal the victory.

But the Rebels learned before the game that their star running back, Taylor DeVarney, was not available to play due to illness.

In his stead, Emmanuel Muderhwa and Kevin Cassidy stepped ino the breach.

Muderhwa had three touchdowns, including a 5-yard run and a 25-yard return on an interception. He also added 74 yards on 12 carries. Cassidy shouldered the running load, piling up 135 yards on 28 totes.

Hilltopper quarterback Van Ryan Belanger fired a trio of touchdown passes on the afternoon, connecting with Brad Greaves on TDs of 44 and 32 yards and a 27-yarder to Wes Howard.

South Burlington improved to 5-0, 4-0 in the division, while St. Johnsbury sustained its first league loss, falling to 3-1, 3-2 overall.

Lyndon 42, North Country 6

In Lyndon Center, Will Cobb ran for one touchdown and threw for three more in leading the Vikings past the Falcons.

Cobb hooked up with Bryan Hopkins on scoring strikes of 18 and 17 yards and found Adrin St. Hilare with a 21-yard TD pass.

Andrew Lafluer scored on a 2-yard blast for the Falcons.

Lyndon improved to 2-2, 2-3 overall, while North Country remained winless at 0-3, 0-5.

CVU 29, Mount Abraham 6

In Hinseburg, the Red Hawks smashed a game deadlocked 6-6 at the half with 23 unanswered points to post their first victory of the season.

Cody Searles rushed for 96 yards on 24 carries and ran for a pair of touchdowns and a two-point conversion.

QB Nick Hangstman was 5-of-6 for 134 yards in the second half, including a touchdown pass of 20 yards to Peter Fontz.

CVU's Mark Talley kicked two field goals in the first half and Alex Huizenga had a 72-yard touchdown run in the first half. Huizenga racked up 112 rushing yards for the Eagles.

CVU and Mount Abe each stand at 1-3, 1-4.
