USPS worker charged with stealing mail

A federal grand jury in Rutland has charged a postal employee with the theft of mail in Springfield.
The grand jury this week sitting in Rutland returned an indictment charging David Plante, 47, of Bradford, with theft of mail by a postal employee.
The indictment alleged that on March 30, Plante stole a package containing prescription narcotics which had been placed in the mail for delivery by the U.S. Postal Service to an address in Springfield.
No arraignment date has been set.
Plante faces up to five years in prison, if convicted of the offense.
