A West Rutland woman representing half of an alleged husband-wife illegal tattoo operation that infected a number of people with an antibiotic-resistant bacteria last year pleaded guilty and was sentenced to probation Tuesday.
Tiffany Mills, 30, reached a plea agreement with prosecutors two months after pleading innocent to a single charge of unlicensed tattooing. The misdemeanor charge carried a maximum one-year jail sentence and the potential for a $5,000 fine.
But under the plea agreement, Mills will serve no jail time and will not have to pay a fine. The terms of her probation, which expires in two years, includes the condition that she complete the state drug court program.
Mills husband, Michael Mills, still faces three counts of unlicensed tattooing.
The pair was arrested after three of their alleged clients were treated for methicillin resistant staphylococcus aureus, an antibiotic-resistant bacterial infection.
