WINOOSKI — Community College of Vermont is getting a new home in the Burlington area.
Construction of a 65,000-square-foot building is set to begin in Winooski.
College President Timothy Donovan and other officials used ceremonial shovels Tuesday to break ground on the $17 million project.
Donovan said all 2,000 students enrolled in Chittenden County will use the building.
It will include 35 classrooms, four science labs, three art studios and a learning center. There will also be administrative offices and space for student services.
Over the years, Community College's Burlington-area campus has been in a number of locations.
Construction of the four-story building is expected to take about a year and a half.
