MONTPELIER — A Calais woman is facing criminal charges she failed to provide medical attention, food, drink and shelter for six days to another woman who died in August of hypothermia.

The Vermont State Police cited 45-year-old Julie Davis on charges of abuse and neglect of a vulnerable adult.

Police say that on Aug. 9 rescue crews were called to the Davis residence for a medical call regarding 47-year-old Jean Lemire.

Police describe Lemire as a vulnerable adult who was living in Davis' home.

If convicted, Davis could be sentenced to 15 years in prison.

Davis is due in court in December.
