WESTON — The Weston Playhouse Theatre Company received national acclaim for one of its 2008 productions.
Wall Street Journal Theater Critic Terry Teachout highlighted "The Light in the Piazza," which ran July 10 to 26 at the Weston Playhouse.
"… Adam Guettel's new chamber version of 'The Light in the Piazza,' staged with intelligence and grace by Steve Stettler at Vermont's Weston Playhouse, is arguably superior to the full-scale version that was seen on Broadway in 2005," Teachout wrote in his Dec. 26 wrap-up of the best of the 114 theater productions he reviewed in 2008.
"We are honored to be included in Terry Teachout's year-end review," Stettler said in a statement. In addition to directing the play, Stettler is also Resident Producing Director of the Weston Playhouse. "It capped a gratifying year of national attention, with features in American Theatre magazine, on Playbill.com and Theatermania, and reviews in Variety and the Wall Street Journal."
Weston Playhouse Theatre Company has begun unveiling its schedule for the 2009 season, which includes Sam Lloyd Jr. — star of the TV sitcom "Scrubs" — in a production of "Fully Committed." For more information, visit www.westonplayhouse.org.
