HANOVER, N.H. — Budget cuts at Dartmouth College have led to delaying the construction of a sorority house.
Martin Redman, dean of residential life, says as the school is pursuing a $40 million cut in operating costs, building projects inevitably take a back seat to other issues.
Construction of the Alpha Phi sorority residence has been delayed.
Renovations on the house designated for the Alpha Xi Delta sorority, an older organization, will move forward as planned.
Redman said about $2.5 million was set aside for both houses — about $3.5 million short of the amount needed.
