PLYMOUTH — Michelle Pingree announced she is no longer seeking the job of delinquent tax collector.

In a statement issued Thursday, Pingree said, "I write today to inform my fellow Plymouth, VT taxpayers that I am officially resigning my intention of running for delinquent tax collector effective Feb. 12. I am however still going to try to defend my current position as lister. Thank you to my supporters for your understanding."

The one-term lister is defending her three-year seat against Art Lynds, who last year led an unsuccessful petition campaign to abolish the town's listers and bring in outside property assessors. Plymouth residents will elect their town officials by ballot, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. March 3 in the Municipal Building.
