Carnival chili cook-off winners announced

MIDDLEBURY — American Flatbread and the Middlebury Fire Department were the big winners in the town's chili cook-off Saturday.
American Flatbread took the most honors in the professional division, claiming Best Game Chili, Hottest Chili and Best Presentation. Tully & Marie's had the best pork and vegetarian chilis. Costello's Market, Zest Catering and the Grapevine Grille had the best pork, chicken and lamb chilis, respectively.
The Middlebury Fire Department came close to sweeping the amateur division, winning Best Beef Chili, Best Vegetarian Chili, Hottest Chili and Best Presentation. They then tied the Monkton Fire Department for Best Game Chili.
The event was part of the Middlebury Winter Carnival, sponsored by the Better Middlebury Partnership. A raffle during the carnival raised $565 for the Addison County Food Shelf.
