Facing off against cancer

The Rutland Cutting Edge women's hockey team recently participated in the Face Off Against Breast Cancer tournament in Middlebury. This tournament raises money for the Cancer Patient Support Program of Vermont, who in turn uses the money to assist cancer patients and their families.
Many thanks to all our family, friends and the businesses who contributed to this very worthy cause. With their support, our team achieved our goal of top fundraising team, raising over $5,500. This hugely successful tournament has now raised over $34,000 this year in support of the Cancer Patient Support Program. We would like to recognize Omya for their substantial corporate donation and Evan O'Rourke. Evan is a remarkable and thoughtful 12-year-old from Rutland Town who selflessly asked his friends to donate to this cause instead of buying him birthday presents. As a result, Evan and his friends contributed over $400. This generous act and the many other kind contributions are greatly appreciated.
