RANDOLPH — Police believe they have caught the people behind a rash of burglaries in the area.
Saturday morning, Vermont State Police were called to assist Northfield police with a pursuit on Interstate 89 South. Police stopped the vehicle at the Randolph South rest area and arrested the driver, Anna McDaniel, 23, and the passenger, John Jarvis III, 29, both of Northfield.
Police charged McDaniel with attempting to elude police and Jarvis was arrested on an outstanding warrant, police said.
When police searched McDaniel's vehicle, they found a large amount of jewelry, coins and other property, police said. On Sunday, police interviewed McDaniel, who reportedly told them she had helped Jarvis burglarize residences in Bethel, Brookfield, Chelsea, Randolph, Royalton, Tunbridge and Williamston, police said. Monday, police searched McDaniel and Jarvis' home in Northfield and recovered other property they believe to be stolen, police said.
Police believe McDaniel and Jarvis are behind multiple burglaries in the area between Jan. 1 and March 6. McDaniel is being held at Springfield prison and Jarvis is at St. Johnsbury prison, according to Department of Corrections.
Police are asking burglary victims to call the Royalton Barracks at 234-9933 to identify their property.
