BENNINGTON — Police are investigating a suspicious incident involving an unidentified man that happened at the Cinema 7 movie theater on North Bennington Road.

Police said they were called at about 9:50 p.m. March 20 to the theater.

Bennington Police Officer Andrew Hunt said he learned that an unidentified man, described as about 6 feet tall with short gray hair and wearing a bright green short-sleeved shirt, light blue jeans and a red jacket, approached a group of 12-year-old boys inside one of the theaters.

The man told the boys they had to leave because they were being noisy. The boys believed the man was an employee of the Cinema 7 and left.

All but one of the boys got a ride home, but one boy was unable to contact his parents. The boy tried to go back inside, but said the man blocked him from going inside.

According to Hunt, the man approached the boy and asked at least twice if he needed a ride home. The boy became nervous and managed to get inside the theater and call his parents who took him home.

Hunt said the man, who was not an employee of the Cinema 7, left when someone announced the police had been called. The boy told police he saw the man playing on the arcade games in the movie theater lobby when he and his friends arrived.

Police have asked that anyone who may have information about the incident or the man involved, contact Hunt at the Bennington Police Department at 442-1030.
