Paramount event a winner

On behalf of CVPS, WJJR, Omya and the Paramount Theatre, sponsors of Pack the Paramount, I would like to thank the community for their tremendous support of this year’s event and applaud you for helping to collect a record-breaking 18,442 items.
Over March 27 and 28, we filled each of the 848 seats in the Paramount Theatre with food, and heaped even more on the stage. Later, everything was whisked away in less than 45 minutes to serve those in need at BROC, the Rutland Community Cupboard and the Salvation Army.
Despite the challenges of condensing the event into two days (from three in prior years) and general economic conditions, the Rutland community came through once again — bigger and better than ever.
It is heartening to witness such incredible generosity, and astonishing to see Rutland’s boundless capacity for sharing. Over these two days, giving came in the form of people volunteering hours of their time to count, load and unload food; donations of vehicles to transport food; and monetary donations by the dozen to purchase food.
Thanks to everyone, young and old, rich and poor, who gave what they could to make this event a wonderful success and a great example of what’s going right in Rutland.
