City and State Police are investigating a series of motor-vehicle vandalism complaints that occurred throughout Rutland County early Saturday morning.

Police received reports throughout the day Saturday of vehicles across the county, from Pittsford to Danby and Mount Holly to Pawlet, that sustained window damage believed to have been inflicted with air-rifle weapons.

In Rutland City alone there were 26 reported incidents of vandalism between 7:30 p.m. Friday and 9 p.m. Saturday, according to city police incident reports. Ninety-nine percent of those incidents occurred to vehicles parked in driveways at the time, according to Cpl. Charles Hall.

Police are asking for the public's assistance. Residents who witness suspicious activity are encouraged to call State Police at 773-9101 or city police at 773-1816.

I read about this on Saturday when it occurred. That article was in the Burlington Free Press, it's about time Rutland Herald ran it.
