HARTFORD — The Hartford Parks and Recreation Department has received nearly $20,000 to connect the trail systems between Kilowatt North and South parks.
The $19,257 grant from the Department of Forests, Parks and Recreation will be used to create two new loop and connector trails on the perimeter of the park grounds. One route will follow along a designated Connecticut River frontage and the second will bring visitors to a scenic overlook. The Vermont Youth Conservation Corps will complete the 1.5-mile trail.
The project is one component of the Kilowatt Master Plan that defines a five-year maintenance and enhancement of Kilowatt Parks, which were created through a long-term lease with TransCanada Power Co.
