ROCKINGHAM — A mobile home fire Tuesday night left a family of four homeless.
Shortly after 11 p.m., fire departments from Rockingham, Bellows Falls, Springfield, Chester, Saxtons River, Walpole, N.H., and North Walpole, N.H., responded to a fire on Rounds Road.
Police said the occupant woke to the smell of smoke, evacuated the mobile home of his wife and two children and called 911.
All four family members were treated at Springfield Hospital for breathing difficulties, three of whom were released Wednesday morning.
The condition of the fourth patient, whom police reported was expected to be held Wednesday night for observation, was not immediately available because Springfield Hospital doesn't release patient conditions.
Investigators with the Vermont State Police and the Division of Fire Safety later responded to the scene to investigate the origin and cause of the fire, which police said is undetermined but does not appear suspicious.
Police estimated the damage at $35,000 and said the structure was a total loss.
