Rutland Police seized a half-pound of marijuana Saturday during a routine traffic stop.

Police arrested Nathan R. Rollins, 18, of Cuttingsville after a stop for a defective tail light, according to city police officer Frank Post.

Post said he pulled a 1996 Jeep Cherokee, in which Rollins was a passenger, over on Phillips Street.

During the stop, Post said he could smell marijuana inside the vehicle. After he was given consent to search the vehicle, Post summoned his partner, police dog King Bricks, who sniffed out two bags filled with marijuana. Rollins, who claimed ownership of the substance, was arrested.

Rollins pleaded innocent Monday to a felony charge of marijuana possession. Judge William Cohen set bail at $5,000.
