How many fathers are out in bars, not paying alimony or doing worse things than sharing family time with their son?

This is just totally insane and ridiculous, shocking! The family and father must be going through hell and back ... it obviously is a tragic accident, why compound the suffering, what good will that do for anybody involved?

Someone should contact 60 minutes, this is sooooooooo sadly unfair.

Stay strong Kevin, you have many supporters!

I agree, the family has suffered enough, but it is not about the family. The justice system wants their cut of the action. We are keeping these attorneys, public defenders and judges working and with a job. Just look at anyone who has to hire an attorney to defend themselves. The poor client is bled to death of any savings and most likely becomes destitute after he gives up all of his finances and assets to the system. But the attorneys keep getting richer. One would be lucky if the outcome of their trial was in their favor after all of that.

The government WANTS EVERYONE to have a criminal record on file with the justice system. THat is why they want you to "snitch on your neighbor", stop you for ridiculous minor traffic violations or accuse you of some wrong doing that you didn't do. Everyone is supposed to LOOK like a Terrorist in the end. Suspect everyone. Our prisons are FULL. But what does the justice system do? Let out rapists, child molestors, bank robbers, etc. while some poor slob who made a mistake or had an accident is crucified by the system and left with a bad reputation for the rest of his life. THanks to the Media.
I believe this is going on all over the United States, not just in Vermont. Mark, where are you planning on going to across the river? I may want to join you if there is such a place left where innocent people are not persecuted by the system.

Ridiculous. It was a tragic accident. Let the man suffer in peace.

But I was expecting this, here in VT, the Abusive Government State. Remember all those government employees (like police and prosecutors) out there... they have to find SOMETHING to do, or risk losing their fat paychecks and creamy benefits. In the end, they know this man will probably be found not-guilty. But they are willing to put him and his family through hell so they can keep claiming their tax-payer supplied gigantic salaries.

How do they sleep at night?

I can't wait to get out of VT. When I finally make it, I will shed tears of joy as I cross the river.

I think the guilt of killing your own son and having to live with that for the rest of your life would be punishment enough.

I know if I did something like that, I'd kill myself.
