LUDLOW — The Black River Academy Museum opened for the season Tuesday.

The alma mater of President Calvin Coolidge is home to a collection of artifacts that illustrate life in the Okemo Valley during the 19th and early 20th centuries.

The museum will host a number of events in June. From 6:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday, the museum will host a cemetery walk at Pleasant View Cemetery. Black River Middle School pupils will discuss the lives of those buried there.

At 6:30 p.m. Monday, pupils from Heidi Baitz's sixth-grade class will present their research and models of old barns in the area during a program called "Barns: Vermont's Vanishing Landscape."

The public is invited to learn the art of chair caning from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 13. The lesson costs $10 and participants must register by Friday.

The Black River Academy Museum is open noon to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. Admission is $2. For more information, call 228-5050 or visit www.bramvt.org.
