Area theater group opens with 'Harvey'

SPRINGFIELD — The Springfield Community Players will open their season with the Mary Chase comedy "Harvey."
The play tells the story of Elwood P. Dowd and his pal Harvey, a 6-foot-tall white rabbit. When Elwood's sister tries to have Elwood committed to a sanitarium, the doctors mistakenly commit her instead.
The cast includes Don Gray and Tom Field of Springfield, Sara Norcross of Reading, Christin Semprebon of Claremont, N.H., and Clyde Jenne of Hartland. The play is directed by Stephanie Rowe.
Show times are 7:30 p.m. this Friday and Saturday, as well as June 19 and 20. Tickets are $12 for adults and $10 for students and seniors. For tickets or more information, call 885-4098.
