Residents honored for charity work

MONTPELIER — Three Windsor County residents were recently honored for their charitable work.

During a ceremony last month in the National Life Building, Chester resident Maria Contro received the 2009 Governor's Community Service Award from Gov. James Douglas. Contro was honored for her work with the Meals on Wheels of Greater Springfield program.

Cavendish residents Bob and Lucille Evans also received the award for their volunteer work with Black River Good Neighbor Services.

Al three recipients were nominated by the Green Mountain RSVP & Volunteer Center.
