Staff Report - Published: June 9, 2009

Residents on Church Street and Kingsley, Lincoln and Roberts avenues can expect to be without water service for at least several more hours as the Department of Public Works repairs several broken water valves in the area.

The water distribution division was doing routine maintenance last week when it located a valve at Lincoln and Roberts avenues that was leaking.

While trying to fix it yesterday another valve at Church Street and Roberts avenue broke, according to David Sears, the city’s water distribution manager.

Sears said the broken valves are part of the city’s nearly 120-year-old pipe infrastructure.

He said he didn’t know exactly when water service would be restored.

The effected blocks are Church Street from Library Avenue to Kingsley Avenue; Kingsley Avenue from Church Street to Lincoln Avenue; and Roberts Avenue from Church Street to Lincoln Avenue.

When I saw the headline "some Rutland areas without water due to pipe issues" Is there a correlation with the "Vt has highest rate of pot users" story to your right?
