STOCKBRIDGE — A motorcyclist suffered a head injury after crashing on Route 100 about 1-1/2 miles north of the intersection with Blackmer Road in Stockbridge about 4:15 p.m. Saturday, according to a Vermont State Police news release.
No identifying information about the rider was released by police.
The motorcyclist suffered a head injury and was air-lifted to Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center by DHART helicopter.
Witnesses told police the motorcyclist passed them at a speed estimated to be about 60 mph just before the crash.
The witnesses didn't believe speed was a factor in the crash, however, and police said physical evidence at the scene revealed the operator appeared to have swerved to avoid striking a moose.
