PLYMOUTH — Officials say Vermont's historic sites are the place to be next weekend to appreciate the history of the Fourth of July holiday.

Special events are planned at the Bennington Battle Monument, Mount Independence in Orwell and the Calvin Coolidge Historic Site in Plymouth, which will celebrate the birth of the nation and the only U.S. president born on the Fourth of July.

A delegation of the Vermont National Guard will lead a march from the village of Plymouth to the cemetery, where a wreath sent from the White House will be placed at Coolidge's grave. Relatives of Coolidge are expected to attend. The march will be followed by a chicken barbecue and concert.
