BARRE – Rep. Peter Welch is scheduled to hold a press conference Monday in Montpelier to discuss the recent passage of an energy bill he hopes will transform Vermont's economy.

The press conference will focus on the American Clean Energy and Security Act, which the House passed Friday night 219-212.

Welch will be joined at the conference by two Vermont homeowners and three people who are "leaders on the fields of efficiency and renewables," according to a news release issued by Welch's office on Saturday. Those leaders are GreenHomes America Vice President Mike Rogers, GroSolar founder and CEO Jeffrey Wolfe and Efficiency Vermont director Blair Hamilton.

The press conference will be held at 10 a.m. at the Statehouse.

"On Friday, the House of Representatives passed today cap-and-trade tax legislation designed to reduce carbon emissions by raising the prices of oil, gasoline, natural gas, coal, home heating oil, and anything else that produces carbon dioxide emissions, believed to be the main culprit behind supposed global warming. That is estimated to increase costs per family by an estimated $1,600 to $3,200 each year.

During the campaign last year, in the debates, in speeches, and in campaign ads, Barack Obama promised over and over that he would cut taxes for the 95% of Americans making less than $250,000 per year. He pledged that his tax increases would only apply to the top 5% of Americans making over $250,000. Yet Obama fully supported passage of the House cap-and- trade tax bill."

Is this the Clean Energy Bill ole idiot Welch is referring to?

You don't need to be a Rocket Scienctist to know how it will impact the Vermont Economy.

If the Vermonter isn't already broke, facing a foreclosure, in a middle of a bankruptcy, this ought to give him plenty of more company. Where are people going to get the money to pay a penalty because that is the current ONLY choice they have to heat their homes etc. Why not give a 5 year warning before such a bill, give people time to replace furnances, etc? What an ignorant jerk Welch is.
We all know that the Utility Companies will pass their increases right on to the consumer. LOL Another fine example of the Democrats in control.

Now you don't need to ask any longer how that $2.4 trillion they spent since July is going to get paid back.
