Omya awards graduates $14,000

PITTSFORD — Omya Inc. awarded four $2,500 academic scholarships and four $1,000 scholarships to eight area students to assist them in pursuing their higher education goals. The students are:

Claire Cipriani, Proctor High School, $2,500; Connor Quigley, Otter Valley Union High School, $2,500; Ethan Peterson, Rutland High School, $2,500; Patricia Danahy, Fair Haven Union High School, $2,500; Julie Ketcham, Otter Valley Union High School, $1,000; Katie Borsh, Woodstock Union High School, $1,000; Alessandra Hodulik, Mount Saint Joseph; $1,000; Molly Miles, Otter Valley Union High School, $1,000.

"The Omya scholarship committee congratulates each of the applicants for their academic achievements and community involvement," said Pierre Masuy, Omya plant manager. "This is my first year on the committee and I was very impressed with all 39 candidates."

The program awards four $2,500 scholarships to graduating area high school students who plan to pursue a post-secondary degree in a field of science or engineering.

In addition, Omya added to the external scholarship program, by creating four $1,000 scholarships that are available to the dependent's of Omya employees.

These scholarships may be used towards any post-secondary major or certification education in the trades such as plumbers, electricians, millwrights.
