A West Rutland man was charged with a felony for allegedly trying to order parts for his girlfriend's car under the auspices of his former employer.
Nicholas L. Gallipo, 23, pleaded innocent Monday to a single count of attempted false personation for allegedly trying to buy $175 worth of automotive parts last month that he claimed were requested by Bruno Enterprises in Rutland.
State Police said Gallipo, who tried to order the parts from Carquest Auto Parts in Rutland, was fired by Bruno's two months before ordering the parts. A Carquest employee refused to hand over the sensor and battery he was seeking because Gallipo lacked a purchase order number, police said.
Gallipo denied that he represented himself as a Bruno's employee. He said he visited Carquest seeking parts for his girlfriend's car but left because the prices were too high.
If convicted, Gallipo faces up to 10 years in jail.
