Dangerous dog on the trail

Toolbox

Published: July 3, 2009

I was stunned after reading the article titled "Blood was flying everywhere." What happened to common sense? Law or not, why would the police release a man and his dangerous dog to continue to hike the Long Trail which is frequented by young children?

Well, what would we do if it was a human who attacked a man and left him bleeding on a sidewalk? Send him on his way?

So we know this dog WILL attack a bystander, unprovoked-- and a full-sized grown-up one at that. I think there's no question that little children are in grave danger from this dog and his irresponsible owner.

At any rate, we now know what to do if we get in trouble with the law in VT: give a false name and say you're hiking the Long Trail. See ya.

I agree. I don't understand why there seemed to be no consequences in this incident. The man who left a dangerous dog unattended should have his dog taken away if he can't manage him.
