Fox News outshines all

Toolbox

Published: July 4, 2009

In regard to commentary by Randal Smathers and Willem Lange in the June 28 Times Argus/Rutland Herald. Mr. Smathers is not too happy with our health care system in the United States. Maybe he might consider moving back to Canada? According to Real Clear Politics, numerous polls, including those by Democrat Stanley Greenberg, show three-quarters of Americans are satisfied with their health insurance. A one-size-fits-all Canadian system is not the way to go. When Canadians want quick, quality treatment they head to the good ol' U.S.A., of course.

Now, the commentary by Mr. Lange. He points the finger at Limbaugh, Hannity and O'Reilly, as cheerleaders for rallying the radical, disaffected white right. My goodness, must be working — with their viewers at an all-time high, beating out every cable channel by wide margins. Must be folks are getting fed up with CNBC, MSNBC, CNN, NBC, CBS, and ABC cheerleading for the radical, disaffected white left.

There are always two sides to every story. That is where fair and balance comes in. No wonder Fox News outshines them all.

"Murdoch identifies himself as a libertarian"

I guess the whacko left will say anything in hopes people wil believe them.

"In early summer 2008, a "tentative truce" was brokered during a secret meeting between Barack Obama, Rupert Murdoch and Roger Ailes (President of the Fox News Channel) at the Waldorf Astoria hotel in New York. Obama had initially resisted Murdoch's propositions, despite senior News Corp executives having recruited the Kennedys to act as go betweens. Obama resented Fox News's portrayal of him "as suspicious, foreign, fearsome just short of a terrorist," while Ailes said "it might not have been this way if Obama had more willingly come on the air instead of so often giving Fox the back of his hand." A "tentative truce" was agreed upon; Obama would be portrayed more favourably, while Obama would be more willing to appear on Fox."

Notice the spelling, Rupert is Australian and now American because "On September 4, 1985, Murdoch became a naturalized citizen in order to satisfy the legal requirement that only US citizens were permitted to own American television stations"

You make no sense. I was just listening to the bills being discussed last week.

There was good money going into missile defense, military, and other sources to help safeguard our country.

Do you honestly believe only Republicans keep us safe? That's what your last post says to me. Everyone is naive except Republicans? "

I make no sense? What has the Man from Kenya done about North Korea? Zilch point sh**. What has the Man from Kenya done about Iran? other than make a retarded statement, Zilch point Sh**. What has the Man from Kenya said to Russia? H ebasically said the Eurpoean Missle Defense can go, if Russia works with us. What else did he just say? We will reduce our Missle Defenses. Maybe, CF you need to keep up with the News, The Man from Kenya is avoding doing anything with N. Korea and Iran because within the whole Democratic Congess they can't find 3 Wisemen and a Virgin to be able to come up with a half intelligent response.

"Mark actually made good points. He was talking about "Media" and the "Fear" they feed the public. (Long ago when media didn't have such strong ways to reach the people. Bad things happened and things didn't make worldwide headlines. Worse things happened and they didn't affect us like they do today. "

You an Mark both need to return to your rooms, Visiting hours is over an dno one came to visit you.
Back in the day when people rode horses and didnt worry about being attacked from 12000 miles away, we didn't need to stay informed, the Democrats still haven't learned to stay informed, must be the Man from Kenya and his Administration watch too much CNN, MSNBC, ABC and CBS because they aren't awar eof how many missles N Korea has launched over the last few weeks and their threats to us.
So you nad Mark keep looking out your window, I'll keep watching FOX News and by the way, I was watching FOX NEWs on 9-11 and they were showing what was going on and I saw the second plane strike LIVE on Fox, so your info is wrong Michael, I really don't care what the schedule listed for them, they had LIVE coverage.

"T.V. stations, media, will do ANYTHING for ratings. If making people afraid of N.Korea every night get's the majority of people to sit down and watch. They will do it EVERY NIGHT!"

Every night? We need to know, you fool, we have been threaten or do you really live in a padded cell? I know, it has to be Republicans building up a new conspiracy to make the Man from Kenya look bad. I doubt that, the Man from Kenya is making himself look bad by totally ignoring there is a problem. I am begining to believe that the Democrats allowed the Man from Kenya to be President and they haven't done anything to avoid it or investigate him, because they need a scapegoat for the up coming turmoil.
I will agree with you CF, the media got the Man from Kenya elected and they seem to break the rules by announcing who the winner is before the polls close and there was even, for the first time in History and EARLY ELECTION. I love how Wolfe Blitzer use to try and tell you what you just heard after a Presidential speech as if I needed him to translate. CNN such a one sided, left leaning, opininated Channel. Why did Geraldo leave them and become a Good ole Fox man?

Fox News must be a great news source, you all bash it so often and try and make it a Republican News Channel. Now you have a guy who claims Rupert Murdoch is a Prime Republican contributor, I have found no such evidence to back that and I will ask him to provide a link. I did find this on Rupert though

"On May 8, 2006, the Financial Times reported that Murdoch would be hosting a fundraiser for Senator Hillary Clinton's (D New York) Senate reelection campaign. Murdoch's New York Post newspaper had opposed Clinton's Senate run in 2000."

He supported Hillary Clinton? and yet he is a Republican Contibutor? seems Fair and Balanced to me. ROFLMAO

Did you know that is exactly what the terrorists, and communists want?

They want us afraid. If they succeed at that. Then they won already. Their goal is to make us VERY afraid. Obviously, they have already won with many citizens of the USA.

To me, it sounded like you were trying to feed even more fear. (Oh no.. Wake up.. Missiles incoming.) I think it's silly. Death is a part of life. We can protect ourselves, put more effort into other ways of protecting ourselves. But there is no need to be truly, psycho afraid. Yes, **** can happen. Oh well, go live your life, have fun before ya die. Seriously, let the people who get paid to worry about it, worry about it.

If you are truly afraid, then the terrorists and communist countries have already succeeded against you.

Too many people are addicted to drama. They will sit around and listen to the fear driven B.S. for hours on their T.V. I guess it's only human nature, unfortunately. Fear was even used to control people in the bible. (If you do this or that. This will happen to you... You won't go to heaven... blah blah blah.)

I like to think we were growing smarter and stronger as a nation. But obviously we only have more technology. Many are still driven by one of the oldest controlling tactics of all time... fear.

Makes you wonder. Who really controls our nation? If media can feed enough fear/anger into the public to go to war with a country. Who's rubbing who's back? We know a lot of data was leaked by our Government. It's safe to assume then that they want to test the public opinion. They want to know. Are Americans ready for another war?

Or did the Media start it and our Government wants to see the people's reactions. Then they decided to leak some more information to help push the opinion favorable to WAR?

It's kind of interesting but it's terribly obvious. The media is trying so hard to push people into going to war. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to watch T.V. for 5 minutes and see what their agenda is.

Afterall, it's all about public opinion. If you can control public opinion. You can have some control over the Government and our military.

The freaking idiot left MUST marginalize Fox ("faux") News... it is in their liberal creed. Liberals never let a fact get in the way of an argument.

Liberals, particularly the standard fare nutjobs writing in here ALWAYS wail about Limbaugh (not even on Fox), Hannity, O'Reilly and now Beck all the while conveniently forgetting that those three Fox individuals, and Limbaugh who is not on 'Fox, are not News anchors or reporters. THEY ARE COMMENTATORS.

Guess what you idiot liberals!!! CNN, MSNBC and alllll the rest of your liberal media have them too. Ever heard of Carville, Begala, Huffington, Dowd, Hitchens, (Chris) Matthews, Olberman, Maddow, Stewart, Friedman, Krugman, Rhodes, etc. Just to name a few.

L.A., your first paragraph is misleading. Being happy with the US health care system and being happy with your health insurance are two different things. Obviously those polled would say they were happy with their insurance, if they were not they would probably not have it, and given the alternative you would rationalize that it was worth what you paid for it. Those increasingly unsatisfied with the health care system are those who do NOT have health insurance, and can not afford it, or do not qualify for it, for reasons that should be criminal. It does no good to ask those who have it already. Did you learn that spin move from Fox News?
I have no allegiance to any news network, and I frequently channel surf between news stations to avoid commercials, and more often than not I'm laughing at Fox rather than being informed. Yesterday while CNN was covering live footage of rioting at the airport in Honduras, Fox was deliberating Sarah Palin's "bail" out of the Governor's office. And any station that gives Ollie North any credibility gets none in my book.

The difference between the far right and most everyone else is.

They have their one channel. They think it's Gospel. They have their few leaders/speakers. And then they assume the rest of the USA is far left when they don't agree with their nonsense.

Which is entirely untrue. Most of the USA is in the middle. They are utterly stuck in a tug-of-war with the idea's of each side. Some make sense. Some are ridiculous. Some ideas are mutual. And then the real crazy ones make them choose which path NOT to choose. The majority chooses to stay away from the GOP. This isn't my idea or some crazy idea. It's TRUTH!

The GOP cut their own throat more often than not. Because if a republican actually feels a sense of liberalism(Freedom and Equality) should be bestowed to a citizen for whatever reason. They are instantly labeled liberals (Far Left). They are willing to kick people to the curb who don't agree COMPLETELY with their outrageous views. People who ARE ON THEIR SIDE, instantly are labeled the extreme opposite.

Strange, don't ya think? Even Republicans, in the past, helped free slaves and make USA what it is today. But any idea of (Freedom and Equality) instantly are labeled socialist or liberal. Why?

As for the news networks.

Do they remember a time when supporting your President was a good thing? You don't have to like him/her. But atleast stand behind him/her. It may be FAR behind him/her. Like many were with Bush. But we were still there even though we disliked him.

And sure, every channel took stabs at Bush Jr. Well, he was the dumbest President in history. But they were not constantly trying to build strength against him. The majority hated the idiot. But you didn't have every "Democrat channel as your put it - The majority of the news channels" rally and constantly put down everything he does. Everyone made an idiot out of him when HE made an idiot out of himself. It was of his own doing. He was his worst enemy.

What's wrong with debating and rationalizing anyway? Why are the republicans so against it? All they do is point fingers, lie, and shrug off truths against them. And they actually consider themselves WINNING (The latest Presidential debates were a joke. But I remember hearing many people thinking they won... The Republicans ... lmfao.) As a person thrown in the middle between your ideals. The Republicans looked like smug people. They honestly looked 100% guilty, didn't deny the truths, and were proud to get away with it and still have this opportunity to run for President/VP. The Democrats actually took the nonsense thrown at them and were explaining why they chose to vote the way they did. It wasn't because they were against the "idea". They were against the "bill". There is a HUGE difference.

The far right.. The Limbaugh Cult.. Think their way is the only way and there is no other way. Whatever the man says or FOX news says... becomes... How did they put it? Gospel? ... LOL ... OMG.!!!

Seriously... These are like religious nutjobs thinking they are listening to "God's Words". It's become a cult.

Personally, I think they are disturbing people without a shread of rationality. (I'm not saying ALL Republicans. I'm saying the crazy ones. The ones that are destroying their own party and are to ignorant to understand what they are doing. They are failing their own Party. And they don't get it.)

The Republican party should consider splitting their party. The Republican party and the GOP Wackjob's. It's the only way they will save themselves and seperate themselves from the "chronic disease" that is killing them.

Yes, the Far Left is just as crazy. I've chosen to discuss Republicans. Why? Well, they are the reason for their parties quick descent. The Far Left are not destroying their party, yet! That's why I chose who to speak against. If you don't get it....

Listening and following to 1-3 People's ideas/ideals that are in-tune with eachother = CULT!!! It's NOT gospel! And don't tell me their idea's are just equal to your own.. It's such B.S. You are being brainwashed and you don't even know it. You are INCAPABLE of debating or rationalizing the position. You just believe what you are told! It's sad. But it is true.

If the Senate has their way, everyone will be forced into the National Health Plan under penalty of a $1,000 annual fine for non-compliance, whether or not they have their own private insurance.

I understand Mark's frustration and Notta's. Schools have become a political and litigious focal point. Especially of this country's right. Whenever something goes wrong, including Columbine, it's the school's fault.

Your (not yours, Mark) kid is harrassed by peers all summer? It's because the school failed to protect him/her from bullies, not because you have allowed him/her unsupervised, unlimited access to the internet. Your kid is being bullied on his way home from school, the school should handle it; you're too busy to call the bully's parents and give them what-for. Your kid is texting answers on a test to a buddy? The school has no business interferring in the child's right to unlimited access to anybody, including texting - and now sexting. Besides you need to be able to talk to him/her - and vice versa- any time any place, including in a classroom. The first thing your child needs to do in a school emergency is call you and get you to fly over and be hysterical, right?

Schools are operating under horrendous pressure, political and parental, to please everybody and the result is they please almost nobody. It's interesting, though, that the ones who do say thank you to their school most often go on to do well in life. You read about those poor, oppressed students who were suspended for cheating or bullying in the police reports.

Our "forebears?" In 1927? Right, mark, there was no TV at all back then. And every nutjob's kid wasn't acting out his twisted obsessions after a nice game of killing prostitutes on the computer and then playing assassin with daddy's deadly gun collection either.

I'm reading about Maoist China where en entire population was brainwashed into thinking eating bark off trees to stay alive was a sign of progress. Frankly, I don't think ANY television news outlets are worth a kilowatt. I think you get a better sense for the world you live in by turning off the TV and sticking your head out the window. At least that's real, and not manipulated pretend-journalism that's ultimately designed to sell advertising.

Consider: Why are schools, even in wonderful, pastoral, pristine, peaceful [touch of sarcasm here, btw] VT locking their doors and practicing lock-down drills? My kid's school recently sent out letters telling us that the door would be locked and no one can get in but by looking up at a creepy surveillance camera to prove they are not a reincarnated Columbine assassin. The school explained: "...in this day and age." Well, do you know that the worst school massacre in US history happened in 1927? Yet, somehow our forebears didn't all flip out and become scared little bunnies, turning their neighborhood schools into prisons -- how can this be?

There was no TV news back then. You see?
