A North Clarendon woman charged with cocaine and heroin possession answered to charges in Rutland District Court.
Darleen E. Palmer, 41, pleaded innocent Monday to a felony count of cocaine possession and a misdemeanor charge for possessing heroin. She was returned to jail after the hearing for lack of $2,500 bail, according to court records.
Palmer was arrested on July 3 after city police received a tip that she was transporting drugs concealed in her body.
Police stopped a vehicle that Palmer was a passenger in on Stratton Avenue. She consented to a medical search, police said, and was taken to Rutland Regional Medical Center. No drugs were found in Palmer's body. However, police said they found a rock of crack cocaine weighing 5.5 grams inside her pant leg. Police said they also found three small baggies containing heroin.
