HUNTINGTON — Five camp counselors who headed to the top of Camels Hump with a big storm brewing could get a bill from the rescue team that led them off the mountain.

The Waterbury Backcountry Rescue Team says the counselors ranged in age from 18 to 22. They headed up Camels Hump on Saturday afternoon as a rain storm neared the mountain.

The group included hikers from Ireland, New Zealand and England. They wore light clothing, and were without flashlights or food and had little water.

The Barre Times Argus says the hikers called 911 from a shelter.

The backcountry rescue team led the group off the mountain by 2:40 a.m. Sunday. The hikers were chilled, hungry and thirsty.

The rescue team says the hikers were unprepared for the conditions.

Damn straight they should bill them. Just like the morons that ski OB on purpose and have to be rescued. They are putting not only themselves in danger but the rescue crews that have to bail their stupid a$$e$ out.
Besides, the state coffers can use the extra cash.
