Vermont is one of a few states without post offices proposed to be closed because of a U.S. Postal Service budget crunch.
The Postal Regulatory Commission has placed 700 of the nation's 32,741 post offices on a list of possible closures, including branches in Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New York and Rhode Island.
But Vermont, along with neighboring New Hampshire, doesn't have any offices on the list, spokespeople for the state's congressional delegation confirmed Tuesday.
The post office is facing a $7 billion loss this year despite a 2-cent rate increase. Officials caution that more branches may be added to its list at a later date.2 Comments -
