Volunteers who are interested in helping in the 13th annual Source to the Sea cleanup of the Connecticut River next month are being asked to register by Sept. 11.
The annual cleanup, which last year netted 100 tons of trash from the river from Pittsburg, N.H., to Old Saybrook, Conn., is a project of the Connecticut River Watershed Council, based in Greenfield, Mass.
Last year crews from Vermont, New Hampshire, Massachusetts and Connecticut cleaned the river, netting tires, old appliances, furniture and even an old outboard motor.
People interested in volunteering should contact the council at www.ctriver.org, or e-mail Christine Luis-Schultz at cleanup@ctriver.org.
