BURLINGTON — An Island Pond man has been sentenced to four months in prison after pleading guilty to trafficking marijuana.

Federal prosecutors say 27-year-old Troy Sheltra also was ordered on Tuesday to serve three years of supervised release when he finishes his prison term.

Sheltra was arrested in September after two Canadian women delivered 29 pounds of marijuana to an Island Pond woman, who was supposed to sell the drugs to Sheltra. The three women have pleaded guilty to federal drug charges.

You're well-named, Gonzo. Drug-pushers of all sorts deserve any and all punishment they receive when they are caught, tried and imprisoned. It will also give the perp a chance to escape his or her addiction while they serve their sentence.

Another senseless waste of tax dollars and police work.
Just think how much money the state would have made on the taxed sale of 29 pounds of pot! And the cops could have been using their time to catch really bad people.
The insanity continues.
