A Fair Haven man remains jailed for allegedly assaulting a five-month pregnant woman on Sunday.

Daniel S. Murray, 27, pleaded innocent Monday in Rutland District Court to felony charges of aggravated domestic assault in the second degree with injury and unlawful restraint in the second degree. Murray also pleaded innocent to misdemeanor charges of violating an abuse prevention order, driving with a suspended license and disorderly conduct.

Judge Thomas Zonay set bail for Murray at $50,000.

Murray allegedly threw the pregnant woman to the ground, choked her and threatened to kill her after she refused to buy him more beer and tried to leave the house where Murray had allegedly been drinking, Castleton Police said in a police affidavit.

The woman told police she fell on her stomach when she was pushed and was in pain, but prosecutors on Monday said her unborn baby was not harmed.

Murray also allegedly restrained the woman and her two children in his car by driving at speeds of up to 90 mph and he allegedly threatened to kill her, according to the affidavit.
