Residents who live near Omya's calcium carbonate plant have lost a federal lawsuit that claimed the company's chemically tainted marble waste posed a threat to human health and the environment.
United States Magistrate Judge Jerome Niedermeier issued his decision today ruling that nearby residents of the Florence quarries where the marble waste or tailings have been dumped failed to prove “that alleged potential harm claimed constitutes a serious endangerment.”
