STAFF REPORT - Published: October 2, 2009

Homeowners will open their doors Saturday to people interested in green houses.

The Northeast Sustainable Energy Association's Green Buildings Open House showcases homes with renewable energy and energy efficiency features at more than 600 locations in the group's 10-state area. The event runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., though local times may vary.

NESEA's Web site offers a house locator using Google maps. It listed three Rutland County locations — Middletown Springs, Wells and Mount Holly — and about a dozen elsewhere in the state.

Featured technologies include solar panels and hot water collectors, cogeneration heating and electricity systems, wind turbines, low flow toilets, radiant floor systems, energy efficient wood stoves and geothermal heating systems.
