Flu shot clinics set through November

STAFF REPORT - Published: October 6, 2009
The Rutland Area Visiting Nurse Association & Hospice, along with the Dorset Nursing Association and the Coalition for Adult Immunization in the Rutland Region, will hold 18 public seasonal flu shot clinics through Nov. 7.
At this time, RAVNAH has adequate vaccine to meet the community's needs at the remaining public flu clinics scheduled through then, according to Laura Vien, marketing and public relations representative for RAVNAH.
The clinics are open to all adults age 18 and older.
The Centers for Disease Control recommends that everyone get his or her seasonal flu shot early this year to be ready for the H1N1 vaccine when it becomes available, according to information from RAVNAH. The CDC also states that pneumococcal disease kills more people in the U.S. each year than all other vaccine-preventable diseases combined.
Individuals who have Medicare Part B need only bring their card to receive the flu and/or pneumonia vaccine.
For all others, call RAVNAH at 775-0568 for this year's rates.
