BRATTLEBORO — A South Londonderry man is behind bars and is facing a possible life sentence on charges he sexually assaulted a 6-year-old girl.
Jason S. Olney, 35, pleaded innocent Tuesday in Brattleboro District Court to two counts of sexual assault of a child younger than 13, one count of repeated aggravated sexual assault and one count of lewd-and-lascivious conduct with a child.
Three of the four charges carry a maximum sentence of life in prison. He is being held without bail in Springfield prison.
According to affidavits filed with the court, Monday afternoon, the girl told a teacher at school that Olney had assaulted her the night before. School officials called the Department for Children and Families, who in turn contacted police.
The girl told investigators Olney had assaulted her many times while her mother was away, but when interviewed by police, Olney denied the charges and said any contact between him and the girl was innocent, records state.
