Morning crash kills Poultney man

POULTNEY — A local man was pronounced dead at the scene of a crash on Route 30 early Saturday.

John M. Skovira, 25, died after his 2000 Dodge Intrepid went off the east side of the road and crashed into several trees, according to state police. Skovira was traveling north at about 4:20 a.m. when the crash happened.

Skovira was not wearing a seatbelt and was thrown from the vehicle, police said.
