PUTNEY — A Massachusetts motorist struck and killed a bear Friday night.
At 5:46 p.m., state police responded to a single-car crash on Interstate 91. Police said Julian R. Cohen, 78, of Lee, Mass., was traveling south in 2007 Honda Accord when a black bear crossed the road in front of him.
Cohen's car clipped the rear end of the bear. The car sustained about $1,000 in front-end damage and the bear succumbed to his injuries and died on scene.
