Suspected carjacker arrested in New York

A man who allegedly carjacked a motorist at the Vermont Welcome Center on Route 4 Wednesday night was arrested about an hour later in New York, Fair Haven Police said. Fair Haven Police Chief William Humphries said the carjacking took place at about 7:30 p.m. Wednesday soon after the man made a failed attempt to forcibly steal a car just over the New York border. The police chief said more information about the incident as well as the identity of the suspect would be released today.
