Markowitz to speak on youth transitions

Secretary of State Deborah Markowitz will speak about “Youth in Transition” at the Rutland Regional Partnership for Family Services’ 11th Annual Community Celebration on Wednesday.

The event will be held from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Franklin Conference Center in Rutland and all community members, agencies, organizations, families and friends are invited to attend.

Each year RRPFS recognizes individuals and organizations for their commitment and service to the community. This year honorees include Mary Maglione, a clinician at The Community Access Program; Diane Lapre, a clinician at Easter Seals VT; Tony Morgan, founder of the West Rutland Food Shelf; Patricia Shappy, volunteer coordinator at Northwest School; Jonny Rice, unit director for the Boys & Girls Club of Rutland County; David Wiezalis and Barbara Reed of Sheldon Academy at Vermont Achievement Center; Brook Nuckles, teen coordinator at the Boys & Girls Club of Rutland; Sharon Norton of the Rutland County Women’s Network & Shelter; foster parents Nancy Burell and Ora Turner and family support specialist Heather Curavoo, all of the Eckerd Child and Family Support Services; and Lance Coltey, Richard Coltey and Darcy Bowles, all volunteers with the Rutland Area Prevention Coalition.

Refreshments will be served at the celebration. Franklin Conference Center and BROC-Community Action in Southwestern Vermont join RRPFS in cosponsoring the event.
