McKillop passes Panthers to comeback win over Bates

In Lewiston, Maine, Middlebury College scored two touchdowns in the fourth quarter to come from behind and defeat the Bates College football team 28-18 in heavy rain at Garcelon Field on Saturday.
After Bates freshman Patrick George gave the Bobcats (0-5) an 18-14 lead with 39 seconds left in the third quarter, the Panthers (2-3) opened the fourth quarter with a 46-yard touchdown drive, capped by James Millard's 26-yard touchdown reception from Middlebury quarterback Donald McKillop (23-43, 252 yards, three touchdowns, one interception) with 13:13 left to play. Millard finished the game with seven catches for 82 yards and two scores, while Erik Rostad also scored a pair of touchdowns, one on the ground and one through the air.
The Panthers received the ball again with 7:11 left and drove 39 yards, with Rostad punching it in from 5 yards out for a 28-18 lead with 5:45 left in the game.
Bates fumbled on its next possession and a last-ditch effort in the final minute ended with Middlebury getting its one interception of the game, as Dan Haluska picked off Trevor Smith's pass.
Middlebury amassed 341 yards of total offense to Bates' 297. The Panthers rushed for 89 yards, with McKillop leading the way with 48 rushing yards on 12 carries. Rostad rushed for 37 yards and a score and caught five passes for 55 yards and a score.
U-32's Murphy scores
U-32 graduate Todd Murphy had a rushing touchdown for Maine Maritime in the Mariners' 49-21 victory over Framingham State in New England Football Conference action.
Norwich 48, Anna Maria 0
In Northfield, freshman RB Orwin Etkins totaled 209 yards of total offense and three touchdowns to help lead Norwich.
The victory is the fifth in a row for the Cadets, who improve to 5-3 overall this year. The AmCats, who are in their first season competing at the varsity level, fall to 0-8.
The Cadets rolled up a season-high 530 yards of total offense in the game. They did the majority of their damage on the ground, rushing for 435 yards.
The NU defense completely dominated the Anna Maria offense, yielding a mere 34 yards of total offense to the AmCats.
Norwich wasted little time putting this game away, outscoring Anna Maria 34-0 in the first half. NU opened the scoring at the 11:59 mark of the opening quarter when freshman RB Danny Triplett scored on a 15-yard run. The Cadets made it 14-0 at the 6:13 mark of the first quarter when freshman QB Kris Sabourin hit freshman WR Chris Denton on an 11-yard fade to the right corner of the end zone on a fourth-and-5 play.
Norwich extended its advantage to 21-0 early in the second quarter when senior WR Kevin Ober rushed for a two-yard TD at the 11:16 mark. The Cadets blew the game open over the final three minutes of the first half with a pair of long touchdowns by Etkins.

In Lyndon Center, Bryanna Astor scored the game-winning goal with 39 seconds remaining to lift Green Mountain.
Green Mountain keeper Karen Davidson saved nine shots as Green Mountain improved to 6-8-1.

In Lyndon Center, Patrice Lumumba had two goals and an assist to lead Lyndon.
Lyndon State ends its season with an overall record of 4-10-3 and a 1-5-1 mark in the NAC. Green Mountain ends with records of 0-13-1 and 0-7.

Windsor 20, Mill River 0
In North Clarendon, Austin Soule took the opening kickoff back for a touchdown and the Windsor Yellow Jackets never looked back, beating winless Mill River 20-0. Quarterback Gavin Callahan ran over for the two points.
Callahan scored again to give the Jacks a 14-0 halftime lead and then he scored another TD in the third quarter.
Mount Mansfield 40,
Lyndon 22
In Lyndon Center, the Cougars fell behind 10-0 then scored 40 consecutive points to improve to 5-1 in Division II play and 6-2 overall.
The big run included touchdown passes from Ben Dolan and T.J. Wesson to Jamie Wright, and two scoring runs apiece by Tucker White and Ian Shaw.
Lyndon fell to 1-6 in D-II and 1-7 overall.
Jake Hill had two touchdown runs in the fourth period for the Vikings, who will host St. Johnsbury in the teams' traditional rivalry game next week. Mount Mansfield will visit U-32.
Oxbow 20, BFA-Fairfax 19
At Fairfax, Barry Weigel threw and ran for a touchdown, and kicked two extra points to push Oxbow past BFA-Fairfax.
Brandon Bates ran for a 33-yard touchdown and a 38-yard touchdown in the second quarter for BFA-Fairfax. An extra point was converted by Josh Woodward making it 13-0.
Weigel ran back a kickoff back 87 yards for a touchdown and completed the extra point kick to close the gap to 13-7 at half.
In the third quarter Weigel completed a touchdown pass to Jake Bielcki and converted the extra-point making it 14-13 Oxbow (4-4). Bielcki rounded out Oxbow scoring on a nine yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter making it 20-13.
Andrew Barden threw a 31-yard touchdown to Grady Ballard in the fourth quarter, but the two point conversion failed for the Bullets (4-4) making the final score 20-19.
St. Johnsbury 8, Burlington 7
At St. Johnsbury, Zack Gray threw for a touchdown and completed a two-point conversion to lift St. Johnsbury over Burlington.
Gray connected with Ben Price for the touchdown and Lincoln Lemieux for the two-point conversion. The Hilltoppers move to 3-5.
Ryan Vellek threw to Austin Robinson for a touchdown, and the extra point was converted by Zach Carr for the Seahorses (4-4).
Woodstock 34, Poultney 6
In Poultney, the Wasps wasted little time getting the offense in gear and did in typical fashion: with the option play. Quarterback Sam Stockwell took it himself and sped 83 yards for the game's first score.
Cam Stiles added three more touchdowns on short runs and freshman Edward Doten added another on a 35-yard run.
Quarterback Skyler Staples got the Blue Devils on the board with a pass just before the half.
The victory, coupled with BFA-Fairfax's 20-19 loss to Oxbow, sets it all up for Woodstock if it can beat Windsor in its rivalry game on Saturday.
"We've tried to figure out and we don't think there is any way we can be out of the playoffs if we beat Windsor," Woodstock coach Jim McLaughlin said.
GIRLS SOCCER
Proctor 4, Poultney 2
In Poultney, Mikayla McCormack scored two goals, while Jen Connell and Nicole Valach added single goals and Elizabeth Falco and Abby Blongy combined for six saves as the Phantoms finished the regular season at 9-4.
Whitney Van Buren and Leah Depprizzo scored single goals and Ginger Vaughn stopped eight shots for the Blue Devils.
"We've had a very good season," said Proctor coach John Ojala. "We're a young team and we did well. The girls got better as the season went along."
Burr and Burton 2, Rutland 0
Jenna Hoffman scored both goals as the Bulldogs clinched the Marble Valley League girls A Division soccer title with the win.
Kelsey Hill had both assists. Burr and Burton led at the half, 1-0.
Claire Maass (two saves) and Whitney Pratt (one save) split the time in goal for the 8-5-1 Raiders.
Jillian Blaisdell had five saves for the Bulldogs.
