Dairy farmers for Cabot Creamy Cooperative in Vermont and the rest of the region are opening their farms to the public today to raise awareness of how the business structure has helped their farms survive.
"Open Farm Sunday" also aims to raise awareness of the importance of locally sourced food at mainstream groceries, which the Vermont-based cooperative has been supplying for 90 years.
Visitors can stop by a number of farms in the region from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Central Vermont participants include the Foster Brothers Farm in Middlebury and the Snow Farm in Brookfield.
A list of the participating farms is available at www.cabotcheese.coop.
