On Nov. 7, West Rutland Public Library will host an open house to celebrate its 80th year.
The event will run from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and will feature refreshments and children's activities.
The library was started in 1929, at a cost of $35,000, as a gift from Mrs. Fletcher Proctor. A large gathering turned out after it was constructed to hear Dr. C.B. Ross deliver a historical address at the dedication of the new marble library.
