BRATTLEBORO — Skateboarding enthusiasts in Brattleboro say they're eager to get busy raising money for a skate park, an effort that so far has been frustrating.
Town voters approved a skate park last year at town meeting, only to have a proposed location by the West River nixed for environmental concerns. Another proposed spot was blocked by neighbors worried about noise.
Meanwhile, skateboarders say police have been getting increasingly tough about enforcing a town ordinance against skateboarding downtown.
Now a plan is afoot to use a piece of school property for a skate park, but the School Board has made no formal decision.
