HYDE PARK - A jury has been chosen in the case of an Essex, Vt., police officer charged with shooting and killing a neighbor's dog while off duty.
WCAX-television says the trial for 35-year-old Michael Wootton of Waterville is due to begin on Nov. 16.
Wootton has pleaded not guilty to a cruelty to animals for shooting the 80-pound mixed-breed after it had attacked his 20 pound dog.
The jury draw was completed Monday in Hyde Park.
Last month a judge denied a request by Wootton to dismiss the charge.
Since the incident Wootton has been doing administrative duties at the Essex Police Department.
