MANCHESTER — Vermont Health officials say some people left a Manchester flu vaccination clinic without being vaccinated even though there was vaccine available.

Commissioner Dr. Wendy Davis says some people who attended the Thursday H1N1 flu clinic didn't want to receive the form of the vaccine that is administered through a nasal spray.

Davis says that for healthy people between ages 2 and 49 the nasal spray is safe and effective.

The nasal spray is not for people with chronic medical conditions. Those people receive an injectable vaccine.

Davis says she doesn't know how many people who left the Manchester clinic without being vaccinated were eligible for the nasal vaccine, but 60 doses of vaccine were unused.

Davis says the nasal vaccine will be used at other clinics.
