Vermont State Police said today that dental records have allowed them to positively identify a skull found by a hunter in the woods Sunday as that of William "Mike" Hogan, a Rutland man who has been missing for 4 1/2 years.

Hogan went missing while visiting friends on Spring Lake Ranch Road in the Shrewsbury area May 16, 2005, and never returned home that evening prompting many fruitless searches over the years.

Detectives said the skull was the only thing found in the area, but additional searches will be conducted to look for additional remains.

The circumstances of Hogan's disappearance did not appear suspicious, police said.

Ya, I was holding out hope for that last clue in California. But at least they have some closure!

This is terribly sad. But at least now his family can have some closure.
